Who are we?
We are a regiment within The Sealed Knot, one of the largest Re-Enactment groups in the world. We aim to portray soldiers and civilians of the British Civil Wars, in both War and in Life.
Specifically, we reenact as 'Lord Saye and Sele’s Blew Regiment Of Foote', a regiment who was raised around Banbury in 1642, right at the very start of the conflict, and briefly held garrison in Oxford.
Viscount Saye and Sele chose to fight for the Parliamentarian cause and - as such - we had no choice but to go along with it.
Our re-enactment regiment was formed over 40 years ago and continues to offer fun and friendship to it’s members, whilst taking part in entertaining and informative re-enactments across the UK.
For King or for Country, as members we do not particularly have a political stance (and we like to keep it that way!).
Keep in mind we are not illiterate potato farmers, as our members range from Truckers to EMS workers, and ages range from our oldest member in their 90s and our youngest still learning to talk! Despite the historical home being between Coventry and Oxford, we have members from all corners of the UK; from the West coast of Wales to Hull, and from the very South of England up to the North.
We're always welcoming new members. If you've got history with reenactments (ba dum-tssch) or if you just fancy dipping your toe in to see if this would be a new way to spend a weekend, we're more than welcome to accommodate!
